Lust
It’s no way that I she was ever big enough to provide the shoulders you need
Not broad enough, the way you carry yourself is nothing short of masculine
It had to be good because something so beautiful came of it
Your diligence and dedication are beyond words, which perhaps is the reason looking at you and replying why is surprising because I’ve been inquiring for sometime
And though our worlds are different I don’t see them as mistakes
So when listening and hearing hurt she knows it
contradicting herself because she said she’d never deal
Because it must have been good if they are so beautiful
Beautiful things come of beautiful people and I have never met their moms but She met you, without you though
Seeds would not be planted
And our minds would not touch, predicaments, typical black man has become point of interest
But it had to be good because you have them, it’s something beautiful

Space and Time, Law of Demand

It had nothing to do with his spontaneity
It had nothing to do with his wits
He was simple enough to get
Worried that continuing to spar for what she really wants, she settles
Scared that perhaps what she wants doesn’t want her
All that glitters isn’t goal
She buys clothes to cover up her frustrations because she’s figured maybe if she could buy into herself she’d be happy
Pretty girls lie, well
Her smile is simply a facade
Her need for more, simply means she’s not getting it
I can see you growing bored with, first months are always pretty
Hold it down, because he held her head when it got heavy
Man made streets where hustling is apart of life and every step forward is a step in the way of cash
Would you like to eat here
Happy hour specials here
Are you partying tonight?
Will be living like this for the rest of our lives
Because she has mouths to feed and though she’s been domesticated
Her work is not in the kitchen it’s on the pole
Fast life in a slow state, as I say I’m in Miami trick
Fake friends were missing in action for all they can afford is the fact that they have been, but not really
Green streets, paved like Old San Juan
She’s comfortable because the pavements are similar to those city streets just in heat

I always wanted to know if you looked at the moon

Big...

I always wanted to know if you looked at the moon
Like did your eyes wander as it transformed
Big sometimes small, I figured you knew how I was doing because you it I mean her I mean me
I figured that was your way of knowing that my heart was full and that even when I got small my love never dwindled
Ecstatic to hang with the stars I hung in there because I thought my sky would come to greet me
But I stand weakly, alone because my eyes have embraced night
I wondered if you call her sol, because the moon was pretty but simply not enough because she fell victim to darkness
Do you still look for the moon?

Can I Share Some Old Poems?

"Love me, because love doesn’t exist, and I have tried everything that does."

“Love me, because love doesn’t exist, and I have tried everything that does.”

- Jonathan Safran Foer, Everything Is Illuminated (via arcticnebula)

Confused!

Confused!

newwavefeminism:

BRONX HIP-HOP COLLECTIVE TO LAUNCH A ‘RADICAL’ LIBRARY FOR YOUTH

MOTT HAVEN — Rappers feed off great beats, but they’re nourished by great books.

That’s one message the hip-hop-centric Rebel Diaz Arts Collective hopes to convey to local youth with a community library they will soon run out of their headquarters in a former candy factory by the Bruckner Expressway.

“I tell them, ‘The more you read, the iller you’ll be as an emcee,’” said Rodrigo Venegas, aka Rodstarz, one-third of the rap crew, Rebel Diaz, and a founding member of the cultural collective with an activist bent.

The roughly 20-member collective has partnered with Bluestockings, the independent Lower East Side bookstore, to amass about 300 mostly donated books on radical politics, Hispanic and black history and hip hop.

By erecting the small library in the same space where it hosts monthly hip-hop open mic nights that draw rising rappers and their fans from across the city, the collective is trying to convince these young people that the slickest rhymers are often also the sharpest readers.

“If we make it cool to read books in the South Bronx,” Venegas said, “then it’s a victory.”

The Richie Perez Radical Library, named for a South Bronx educator and activist who died in 2004, combines works by influential thinker-agitators, such as Angela Davis and Malcolm X, with writings by hip-hop luminaries including KRS-One, the RZA and Jay-Z.

Seinfeld made it a point to ridicule the characters’ shallowness and self-involvement, raising it to a level of social commentary. And it was funny. Two other girl-centric shows that reached these same heights to be voices of a generation were My So-Called Life and Wonderfalls. Both funny, yet also insightful and original. Perhaps that’s why they both only lasted one season before becoming cut hits. Girls, a safer more mousy voice, is already been renewed for a third season.”

- Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: Girls Just Wants to Have (White) Fun (via oldfilmsflicker)

blackcontemporaryart:
